2015 World Car Awards Mercedes-Benz made a fantastic showing at this year’s World Car Awards announced at the New York Auto Show. Most notably, the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class drove away with top overall honors as the 2015 World Car of the Year. As you can imagine, everyone here at Mercedes-Benz of Daytona Beach is overjoyed by the rightfully deserved recognition of the outstanding vehicles that make up the C-Class. The Mercedes-Benz C-Class beat 24 other vehicles competing for the overall honor of World Car of the Year. After being short-listed to 12, the C-Class joined two other finalists: the Ford Mustang and the Volkswagen Passat. In the end, the international jury panel of 75 top-level car journalists from 22 countries around the world singled out the C-Class as the winner. “Taking its design and technological cues from the S-Class, the C-Class employs an all-new aluminum/steel hybrid platform and updated rear-drive powertrains that delivers levels of refinement, luxury, safety, ride, and handling that challenge best-in-class,” said the World Car Awards jurors. The World Car Awards jurors were appointed by the World Car Steering Committee based on their expertise, experience, credibility, and influence. Each juror drives and evaluates new vehicles on a regular basis as part of their professional work. Happily, the C-Class wasn’t the only Mercedes-Benz to take home an award this year.

The Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe Wins 2015 World Luxury Car of the Year

Not to be outdone by the C-Class, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe won the 2015 World Luxury Car of the Year award. It faced stiff competition from the BMW i8 and the Range Rover Autobiography Black LWB. The S-Class also won this award last year when the award was first established. The World Car Steering Committee created this award to acknowledge higher-priced premium models that sell in limited numbers worldwide. Winning the award for the second year in a row firmly establishes the S-Class as the undisputed best luxury car in the world. This flagship Mercedes-Benz coupe continues to advance the state of the art, so it’s fitting that it should be generously rewarded. With its industry-changing breakthroughs and uncompromising pillarless style, the all new for 2015 S-Class is more alluring than ever in every detail. It’s sleeker, sharper, and more powerful than ever before. All of this helps make the S-Class the 2015 World Luxury Car of the Year.

The Mercedes-AMG® GT Wins 2015 World Performance Car of the Year

Beating out the BMW M4 Coupe/M3 Sedan and the Jaguar F-Type R Coupe, the Mercedes-AMG® GT won the 2015 World Performance Car of the Year award. After Porsche dominated this award category for the past three years with the 911 GTE, the Boxster/Cayman, and the 911, the Mercedes-AMG® GT arrived to steal the show. We certainly understand why the Mercedes-AMG® GT was so popular this year. It embodies a technological substance that underscores the high aspirations that AMG® engineers have for driving dynamics, agility, and sportiness. Even though it is only the second vehicle developed independently by Mercedes-AMG®, it is a shining example of AMG®’s philosophy, know how, and dedication to creating vehicles that beg to be driven.
